Vacation Fun

This past weekend, I went out of town for a cousin’s graduation party. I had a good time there, and I’m glad I was able to go. My cousin graduated from high school, and since I didn’t get to go to my other cousin’s graduation party, I figured I would at least go to this one.

I don’t get to see my cousins very often, so it was nice to see them over the weekend.

Plus, I haven’t been on a vacation in over two years, so it was also nice to get away for a few days.

The weather there was crazy, though. It rained about half the time, and even hailed a little. But it was nice during the graduation party, so it wasn’t too bad.

On Friday, my dad and I left around 9:30 am, and stopped a couple of times on the way, as it was a several hour trip (5 1/2 to six hours), and we couldn’t do the driving all at once. Our first stop was at a rest area, and the second was at Culver’s. I got a bacon cheeseburger, which was really good.

We got to the hotel around 4 pm, and it started raining just as we checked in. After checking in and getting settled into our room, we went to look for a gas station and go to Subway for lunch/snack, but before we could it started to rain even harder, and the tornado siren went off.

We decided to go back to the hotel to wait it out, but we couldn’t get out of the car, it was so bad out. It even started hailing as well. Fortunately, it all ended after about 10 minutes or so. We went back out to go to the gas station and to Subway. I got an Italian BMT, which was good.

The rest of the day we just rested and hung out in the room.

Saturday we had breakfast, and then got together with my uncle and one of my cousins. We went to this family restaurant for lunch. I ordered a chicken wrap, which also was really good. We then went over to their place for a while, to hang out. I tried a piece of cherry pie they got from the restaurant we went to. It was SOOOOOOO good!

My other cousin and his girlfriend came over for a while as well, and we all hung out and talked.

Sunday was my cousin’s graduation party. I had a good time there. At the end of the party, my uncle took my dad and I to the cemetery to see my maternal grandparents’ graves. I hadn’t been to that part of the state in years, and wanted to see the site, so I asked if we could go there.

They have a really nice marker, although a lot of the grounds was muddy and mushy due to all the rain.

In the evening, my dad and I went to Pizza Hut for dinner. We got pizza rollers and breadsticks for appetizers. Both are REALLY good! I got a meat marina pasta thing, which was also good.

Monday we checked out of the hotel, went to Culver’s again after about an hour and a half to two hours for lunch. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and a chocolate concrete mixer with Andes mints. It was really good.

We also stopped at another rest area a couple hours after that, and then got home around six pm. So all, in all, I had a great weekend. I’m glad I got to see my cousins, who I don’t get to see very often.

I miss being there, but I am happy to be home as well. My cats were very happy to see me, as they both layed down on my lap after I got home.

It was really nice to be able to get away for a few days, and have some fun. I really needed this trip. I am very happy right now, and I hope to have more trips soon.

Well, that’s all for now. More to come later.
